Is Your Student Interested in Upper Class On-Campus Housing? Here’s What You Need to Know About the Waitlist and More!

We are officially on a waitlist for all Upper Class student populations. When their Room Selection time ticket opens, Upper Class students are able to add themselves to either the Kennesaw or Marietta waitlist based on their gender.

We know the waitlist process for on-campus housing can be overwhelming, especially for students and parents who have never gone through the process before. Here are some important things you and your student need to know about the waitlist:

Avoid Misinformation

There may be a lot of misinformation out there, so avoid relying on social media or hearsay for information about Housing and Residence Life. Instead, visit the Housing and Residence Life website for the most up-to-date information. If you can’t find the answer to your question(s) on our website, contact the Talon One Service Center. Our team is here to provide accurate information and guidance.

The Waitlist Process

We understand the uncertainty that comes with adding your student to a waitlist for on-campus housing. However, hundreds of students are placed off the waitlist each year, and we work hard to accommodate as many students as possible.

Our waitlist is organized by the order in which Room Selection time tickets open. We do not place students on a waitlist — when a student’s Room Selection time ticket begins, they may add themselves to the waitlist available for their population (gender and campus) in the Housing Portal.

Once they add themselves to a waitlist, our system automatically provides them with a number to let them know how many people are ahead of them. Students can check their place on the waitlist at any time by returning to the front page of the Housing Portal.

Housing and Residence Life will continue placing students from the waitlist throughout the summer until Friday, July 26, 2024, when placements will pause until after Move-In. Waitlist placements will resume again on Monday, August 19. If a student does not want to place themselves on a waitlist, they must complete this form to cancel their 2024-25 Housing Application.

Staying Informed

Once they have added themselves to a waitlist, students should regularly check their place on the waitlist in the Housing Portal. They should also regularly check their KSU email and phone for possible on-campus room assignment offerings. Additionally, they should be prepared to receive a call or email with an on-campus housing offer, and they should have a voicemail set up in case of a missed call. Students will only have 48 business hours to accept an offer before it is offered to the next person in line.

If you or your student have any questions about the waitlist, please view our 2024-25 Waitlist page. If there are any questions not addressed in our online resources, please contact the Talon One Service Center at (470) 578-8663 (T-ONE) or email talonone@kennesaw.edu.
