Supplemental Instructon(SI) is here for your student to support them in their success here at KSU! So, what is SI?

The purpose of SI is to be a program to support historically challenging university courses, which are typically courses that have a high DFW ((drop-fail-withdrawal) rate. SI leaders are students who have achieved an A grade in the class and provide assistance to students and enhance the success rate of the courses they support.

The structure is set up so SI Leaders offer peer-led group study sessions outside the regular class hours. These sessions typically occur twice weekly. SI sessions are open to all enrolled students and start in the second week following the start of classes. They provide an opportunity for SI leaders and students to engage in collaborative learning techniques as they discuss and process course materials together.

Keep in mind, SI Leaders are not professors or teachers. Rather they are peer facilitators dedicated to helping the student succeed in the course. Unlike traditional tutoring, SI is not one-on-one; it is integrated with the course and emphasizes group study sessions. SI sessions are designed to complement, not replace class attendance. Lastly, they are not intended for the completion of assignments unless discussed with both the the professor and the SI Leaders.

For a complete list of courses supported by SI, visit the SI website.
