Waitlists are organized by student population, categorized by First-Year and Upper-Class students, gender, and campus location (Kennesaw or Marietta).
We have now reached a waitlist for all populations.
Here are some important things you and your student need to know:
Avoid Misinformation
There may be misinformation out there, so avoid relying on social media or hearsay. Instead, visit the Waitlist website for the most up-to-date information. If you can’t find the answer to your question(s) on our website, contact the Talon One Service Center.
The Waitlist Process
We understand the uncertainty that comes with your student adding themselves to a waitlist for on-campus housing. However, hundreds of students are placed in rooms from the waitlist prior to the fall semester, and we work hard to accommodate as many students as possible.
Our waitlist is organized by the order in which Room Selection time tickets open. We do not place students on a waitlist — when a student’s time ticket begins, they may add themselves to the waitlist
available for their population (classification, gender and campus) if they are still interested in on-campus housing.
Once they add themselves to a waitlist, our system automatically provides them with a number to let them know how many people are ahead of them. Students can check their place on the waitlist at any time by returning to the front page of the Housing Portal.
Housing and Residence Life will continue placing students from the waitlist throughout the summer until August 1, 2025, when placements will be paused until after Move-In. Waitlist placements will resume again on August 18, 2025.
If a student does not want to place themselves on a waitlist, please complete this form to cancel their 2025-26 Housing Application.
Time Tickets
We use time tickets for waitlist placement to make the process as fair as possible. Time tickets were assigned based on when the student completed the first step of the Housing Application, which opened for First-Year students on December 2. Your student can find their time ticket in the Housing Portal.
First-Year and Upper Class Waitlists
There are waitlists for First-Year and Upper-Class students divided by gender and campus. Each waitlist operates independently, and it is up to each student to ensure they are on the correct one. When it is time for your student to add themselves to the waitlist, encourage them to make sure they select the correct option (e.g., First-Year Female – Kennesaw).
Roommate Selection
Students on the waitlist will be offered a room based on availability, not roommate or community preferences. If your student is part of a Roommate Pair, they must first separate from the pair before adding themselves to the waitlist. Visit our website for more information about how to separate from a Roommate Pair.
Fees
Now that we’ve reached a waitlist, students who have not yet applied do not have to pay the $200 application fee in order to apply and add themselves to the waitlist. However, they must still pay the $200 fee plus an additional $75 room booking fee if they are eventually placed into a room on campus.
Staying Informed
Once your student has added themselves to a waitlist, they should regularly check their place on the waitlist in the Housing Portal. They should also regularly check their KSU email and phone for possible on-campus room assignment offerings. Additionally, they should be prepared to receive a call or email with an on-campus housing offer, and they should have a voicemail set up in case of a missed call. Students will only have 48 business hours to accept an offer before it is offered to the next person in line.
If you or your student have any questions about the waitlist, please view our 2025-26 Waitlist page. If there are any questions not addressed in our online resources, please contact the Talon One Service Center at (470) 578-8663 (T-ONE) or email talonone@kennesaw.edu.
